5 Easy Ways For Moms To Get That Much-needed “Me Time”

Today’s mothers are very busy – home, office, children, family, social life keeps them running all day 24/7, so the time they have so much needed is always relegated to the background. “Me time” is time spent relaxing on your own, doing what you want to do freely without any kind of mental pressure and distress to restore much needed energy and vigor. ‘Me time’ should be part of a mother’s daily routine and not something she can plan for later when the children grow up or when she is freed from household responsibilities.

“Me time” is important for unplugging your brain and relaxing; it relaxes, distresses, increases your level of patience, improves your mood, helps you sleep better and has many other beneficial effects. When there’s so much to do but so little time, you need to fit “me time” into your schedule. A little effort and a little planning is all it takes – if you’ve dreamed it, you can find the time to make it happen. “Me time” is as necessary as breathing and it’s possible even for super busy moms, otherwise you’ll burn out quickly and be of no use to anyone.

So throw away the guilt, share the workload with your partner and other family members, and make time to do what relaxes you. Here are a few ways to do it.

  1. To move

At the beginning of the day, go for a walk, enjoy nature, exercise, do yoga and chat with morning walkers. You can reconnect, plan your day, and have enough time to feel recharged, and start your normal day with a heart and light steps. You don’t have to spend an hour doing this; spending just 15-20 minutes would be a welcome change.

  1. Take care of yourself

When the kids are at school, take a break from the office; go to a spa, do nail art, go for a massage or a facial, it will definitely relax you and rejuvenate your body and mind. All of this can also be done at home if you have to be home for your little baby – at nap time.

  1. Pursue your hobbies and talents

Go to the movies or have lunch with friends, or attend hobby classes, lectures on topics you love, or visit a museum you’ve wanted to go to for a long time. Order food online and use that time to do something you love.

  1. Release your guilt

Plan something for yourself, read a book or go on a weekend trip leaving the kids with their grandparents who would surely love some alone time with them. Go hiking or on vacation, and don’t wait for a special event to happen to do so.

  1. Do not do anything

Take the time to sit and dream, meditate or enjoy that much-needed coffee without any interruptions. Turn off your gadgets and declutter your brain. Watch your favorite series or just stroll through the mall if that’s what makes you happy.

The only thing moms really lack is time – they don’t have time for themselves – it’s hard to find time to do such things. But isn’t there a saying – if you really want to do something, then you make time for it? So ladies, you have to equip yourself and find time for yourself, it’s a necessity for you and for your family too!
