AFTER a tough year Anytime Fitness Tamworth has rebounded, and the easing of COVID restrictions has lifted a weight on the shoulders of local gym goers. The facility is “back to normal” according to club manager Mitchell Rolinson, but there were times during the year when the gym felt like a ghost town compared to its peak times. Usually between 300 and 400 people use it per day, but in the first week that vaccination passports were required to visit non-essential businesses, that number dropped to around 130. Mr Rolinson said that the members had remained loyal throughout the year which is something he was grateful for. “Our numbers have remained fairly stable throughout the process, it was mainly the use of the gym itself that made us notice a big difference,” he said. “We were probably getting about 150 fewer limbs per day in the first week when the 70% vaccination came along, but now we’re pretty much back to normal.” READ ALSO: With the way ahead being much clearer now, he said the only major fluctuation in the number of users or members he expects to see will be part of the normal pattern. “We used to notice that the cooler months were a lot quieter, but over the past couple of years, winter has actually been one of our busiest times – winter and new. an, “he said. “We find that the numbers tend to go down a bit around November and December around Christmas time, but then they go straight up.” However, people don’t seem to be thwarting the number of new fast food restaurants in town by going to the gym more, with the last big membership spike being in 2017, according to Rolison.
