Fight burnout in a few easy steps

Angel Shannon discussed exhaustion and how to beat it in a few easy steps to do earlier today in the studio.

Shannon said her top recommendation for dealing with stress-induced burnout is to meditate. But she had some easy tips to follow to calm down and achieve that state of mindfulness.

First, she said if you have a long to-do list, take it one step at a time. Instead of looking at the list, focus on the next item or task you need to complete. It can help you stay focused and keep you from feeling overwhelmed.

Then she said whenever you feel the need to take a moment, you should take it. No matter what time of day or where you are, taking a moment to ground yourself is beneficial and can help you clarify and focus your thoughts. She also said it’s easy to do if you can recognize the symptoms of stress, like the inability to think clearly. When you take a moment, you should use mindful breathing that includes at least six deep breaths to help you feel centered.

Shannon also recommends not being attached to an outcome. She shared a favorite saying “expectations are the start of resentment” and explained that having firm expectations creates more stress. She also said that you should honor your worth and refocus more energy on yourself instead of spending it all on others and other things. To do this, she recommends keeping a journal and finding a few mantras.
