Legal options for victims of sexual assault in a massage parlor

Associate Lawyer Bobby Thompson is an experienced sexual assault lawyer and licensed in California. Thompson represents victims of sexual assault and their families in civil lawsuits. During an interview, he gave his point of view on rights of victims of sexual assault in a massage parlor:

“Every year across the country there are hundreds of reports of massage therapists sexually assaulting their clients. In fact, sexual assault is a prevalent problem in the massage therapy industry. Victims of sexual assault by a masseuse have legal rights, which could include the right to bring a civil suit against the massage parlor or spa where the abuse took place. It is strongly advised that you seek the services of an experienced assault lawyer sexual.

“Massage parlor owners have a legal obligation to ensure the safety of their clients as well as to ensure that their therapists can be trusted. When a massage therapist is accused of sexually assaulting a client, the victim and her family should inquire whether it was preventable or whether it happened due to the negligence of the owner of the massage parlor or spa. Additionally, if a victim’s lawyer can prove that their assault was the result of the owner’s negligence, then the victim and their family may have a case.
