Global warming. Water pollution. Environmental pollution.
Our Earth is under attack – and now is the time to act.
Earth Day is April 22, and celebrations are planned all month long across the country, including one in Boca Raton.
Here, the free event, dubbed “WLRN Eco Fest 2022,” takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 9 at the Mizner Park Amphitheater.
“The purpose of this event is to celebrate Earth Month by educating the public about the importance of all aspects of our environment and how our South Florida community can contribute to conservation and sustainability efforts. commitment,” a press release noted.
Environmental nonprofits, environmentally-related vendors, eco-friendly food trucks, a kids’ zone with interactive environmental exhibits by Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and Miami Dade Sea Turtle Conservation Program, and a yoga (11:30 a.m.) by Hot Yoga Boca Raton are on the agenda.
Attendees can also listen to Bahamian Junkanoo Band at 2 p.m., talk conservation with Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill, experience animal encounters with Wildlife Rescue of Dade County — and even adopt a furry friend from Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control. .
Don’t miss the 4 p.m. screening of WLRN’s original documentary “Troubled Waters: A Turtle’s Tale.” “”Troubled Waters: A Turtle’s Tale” focuses on educating the public about the effects of global warming, water pollution, and our “disposable” plastic lifestyle through the lens of sea turtles of Florida,” says a press release.
