Hyderabad, Apr 10 (UNI) Sri Rama Navami, which marks the birthday of Lord Rama, was celebrated at the historic 17th century Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam in Telangana on Sunday with religious fervor. After low-key celebrations at the famous temple for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s celebration was large-scale with the participation of thousands of devotees from both Telugu states (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) . On the occasion, the tastefully decorated Bhadrachalam temple authorities staged the celestial wedding of Lord Rama with his consort Sita in the sprawling maidan of Midhila nearby, attended by tens of thousands. Minister of State Endowments Indrakaran Reddy and Ministers Puvvada Ajay Kumar and Satyavathi Rathod presented the vast Pattu (silk cloths) on behalf of the government to the presiding deity of the temple during Kalyana Mahotsavam performed amid chanting of Vedic mantras by dozens of priests. Elaborate security arrangements were made with the deployment of over 2,000 police officers to ensure the celebrations ran smoothly. Temples across the state also held Sri Rama Navami celebrations by holding special poojas. In the state capital, several religious organizations released shobha yatras to mark Sri Rama Navami in many areas on this occasion.
