Vintage Grand National 2022 trend spotted at Aintree on final day
The 2022 Grand National is well and truly underway with racing fans celebrating being allowed to visit the Aintree Festival for the first time since 2019.
Every year, women spend a tremendous amount of time planning their jaw-dropping outfits for the big day, with trends changing from year to year. The last few days have seen some very impressive outfits, and people seem to have tried so hard today.
As the weather got off to a bad start with rain and hail, it quickly turned around and cleared up. Still, no matter the weather, Aintree racing fans were ready for a big day.

Today, many racing fans have opted for glamorous dresses and jumpsuits, in bright colors like red, blue and white. Already this year, Aintree racing fans have started new trends such as flamboyant headgear neon outfits and fedora style hats .
For Grand National Day, the ladies of Aintree seem to have decided to bring a vintage vibe to today’s racing. Many women came in corset dresses that feature a boned bodice – or design that gives the illusion of one – leading into a midi skirt.
Among those wearing a corset-style dress at Aintree Racecourse today was Lauren Atherton, 26, who wore a corset jumpsuit from Pretty Little Thing. Liverpool’s Charlie Williams, who turned 23 today, wore a corset-style top and matching tulle midi skirt made by Brides by Natalie.
Fashion has always been at the center of the Grand National Festival, as it presents the Style Awards, which nominate a lucky runner as the best-dressed entrant. This year Donna Mulligan was crowned winner of the Grand National Ladies Day 2022 Style Award at Aintree Racecourse on Friday.
Dressed in a long red dress with cape sleeves, a matching headpiece and a pair of gold heels, Donna was announced as the winner of the Red Rum Garden. As the winner, Donna walks away with £5,000 cash, the Ultimate UK Staycation Spa Break with Iconic Luxury Hotels, a £1,000 donation to the winner’s chosen charity, a pair of Garden Club tickets to the Ladies Day 2023, a Randox Health package worth £500 and a £500 Never Fully Dressed voucher.
